Glamor and Luxury ch 20

Glamor and Luxury part 1 ch 20”

At Frida and Alistair's place - Frida just told her daughter about her sister Victoria's cancer. "I'm sad that Aunt Victoria is sick," she said. "Me too, Frida " replied. "So, what is this new company of your fashion line called, and who is working with you?" Catherine asked, showing her interest in the fashion business, which was all her family talked about, as Alistair entered. "I would like to know too," Alistair said. "Well, it was supposed to come out today, but I postponed it because of Victoria." ‘What about Victoria?" Alistair asked. “She has cancer," Frida answered. "No," Alistair said, but then added, "Yes." Anyway, I teamed up with Jill and Genevieve." “Wow! You really know how to get under your sister's skin!" her husband joked. "She used to be friends with Jill!" She warned Alistair, "Remember, don't make me mad." "Well, Jill has worked for the company for years and never got the credit or respect. Cynthia took it—she takes everything. I know my company will be successful," Frida asserted. "Then do it. Don’t put your dreams on hold because Aunt Victoria is sick. Yes, she needs your support, but you can't heal her," Catherine said. "No, I can't. Are you not upset with me?" Frida asked. “No," Catherine replied. "Now I also want to work with you. You're right about Aunt Cynthia—she takes all the credit. If you disagree with her, you’d better watch out," Catherine warned. “Just ask Chanel ," Alistair added. ‘Yes, Catherine, I would love for you to join me!" Frida exclaimed, hugging her daughter.

At Frida and Alistair's house—the Frida mansion was small, not the big one she didn't want. That wasn't her style; that's not what she wanted from her father. She just wanted love and acceptance from him, which he never gave her. Frida sat on the couch, looking at a photo album of them as children. They used to be close, just like sisters should be. Her daughter Catherine came in. "Catherine," Frida said, as she was crying and wiping her tears away. "Mother, why are you crying?" Catherine asked as she sat down. "I've been thinking a lot about the past, about how I used to be close to my sisters. Cynthia and I were close, even though I was always jealous of her. Daddy loved her the most. Catherine, I have bad news. It’s about your Aunt Victoria. She has breast cancer." "No." "Yes, it's not good. I can't lose my sister—Victoria is the one who holds us all together, even Mom. When Daddy was sick, I leaned on her. Daddy was supposed to make it. He wasn't supposed to die from cancer. It was treatable," Frida said. ‘Mother, Aunt Victoria will make it. She’s not going to die." "No, she’s not." "What is going on with you and Aunt Cynthia? I heard you two had a fight." "Yes, we did. It’s about the fashion company, my company.”

At Cynthia Phillips' house—Cynthia went into her oldest daughter's room. It was just as she left it: a fashion magazine on the desk and some clothes in the closet. She remembered the day Chanel left. "Mother, I'm going to be a model for another company, not Creation anymore. I want to be a model for a different company, someone who’s not my mother. I need to be on my own and not in your shadow," Chanel said. “You will never be a successful model. I made you! I can break you! My company is the best in the business. If you leave, don't ever come home." "Fine. Well, I hope you don't need any funds because I will cut you out! Don't even try, your father!" Cynthia yelled. End of the flashback. Phillip came in and asked, "What are you doing?" “I'm remembering the last time we saw our daughter," she said. “Did you call her?" "No, I don't want Chanel  back. We don't need her," Cynthia replied, leaving the room. Phillip’s cell phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket, saw the ID, and picked it up. "Chanel I'm glad you called. I miss you.”

At Victoria and Mathew's house - Victoria was looking outside her window at the rose garden she had planned when Callie came by. "Mother, you should be resting," Callie said. "I'm looking at my beautiful rose garden, it makes me happy. I remember planning it when I was little. That's why Daddy gave me this house—because he knew how much I loved the garden," Victoria said. “I do remember a little about Grandfather." “Yes, Daddy loved you, but he was hard to love, that's for sure. He had a hard time dealing with the fact that he never had any sons—no real heir except us," Victoria replied. "Yes. Why don't we have some tea?" Callie asked. They went into the tea room and sat down. "Callie, am I a good mother?" Victoria asked as she was getting sleepy. "Yes, you are the best," Callie replied. "I wish I could give you siblings. I know my relationship with my sisters can be complicated, but I love them." "I know you do. This family is complicated." "Yes, we are, but in our own way, we love each other," Victoria said as she touched Callie's hair. The maid came in with Vivienne, who was carrying flowers. "Aunt Victoria, I'm sorry about your cancer. I know these flowers are not as beautiful as yours, but I wanted to bring something." "Thanks," Victoria said. Just then, Matthew came in. "Victoria, why don't you rest now?" "Yes, I'm getting tired. Vivienne, thanks for checking on me," Victoria said as she got up, and Matthew took her upstairs. "Callie, how are you doing?" Vivienne asked. “I'm scared." “I'm here for you, too. Always." “I'm glad we are close." "Me too.”

At Philip and Cynthia's - The Crane Estes - Before Cynthia's father died, he gave each of his daughters a luxury mansion on the Estes; it was a big mansion. Vivienne was at home looking at designs when Phillip came into the room. “Daddy, how is Mother? Did she and Aunt Frida make up?” “No. They ended up going to the hospital. Your Aunt Victoria is sick,” Phillip said. “What!'' Vivienne yelled as she got up from the couch. “I don't know what happened.” “You didn't go with your mother to the hospital?” Vivienne yelled. “I didn't think your mother needed me in the hospital. Besides, I had meetings.” “Family is supposed to be your priority, not a business!” Vivienne yelled, and Cynthia came in. “What's with the yelling?” Cynthia asked. “Vivienne's mad that I didn't go with her to the hospital.” “Yes, I am! So, what is going on with Aunt Victoria?” Vivienne asked. “It's breast cancer.” “No,” Cynthia replied. “I'm sorry, I should have been there.” “I didn't expect you to, but now I'm going to make some phone calls. I want the best doctor for my sister,” Cynthia said. “I should check on Callie. What about Ricardo and Chanell?” “I haven't called either of them yet,” Cynthia replied. “I will call my sister. I will call Ricardo. We have business to talk about anyway.” “Alright, I will be in my home office,” Cynthia said.

At Valley Hospital, Victoria was in the infusion room getting chemotherapy when Callie and Matthew came in. "Mother," Callie said, "Matthew, this is why I didn't want to tell you. I didn't want you to see me like this—weak and sick." "Victoria," she continued, "this isn't you. It's cancer; we will not let that define you. You are Victoria Winthrop, a strong fashion designer and the best mother." As Cynthia entered, she added, "The best sister ever." "Cynthia," Victoria said, "I know you're upset with Frida, but she’s our little sister, and she just wants to have her own successful company. You know how Daddy treated her." “Yes, I remember," Cynthia replied. "Victoria, we will help you get through this. You’re going to beat this cancer," Cynthia said. "Yes, she will," Matthew agreed, just as the nurse approached. "Victoria, you can go home now. You’ll need to rest and drink plenty of water," the nurse said. Ivy, Vera, Stella, and Nora then came in. "Victoria, you will get through this. We’ll get you the best care," Nora assured her. "Thanks, Aunt Nora. I'm going home," Victoria said. Matthew helped her up, and they left.

At the office, a woman was looking around when another woman came by. “Jill, is Frida here?” she asked. “Genevieve, not yet. She should be here. This is going to be a perfect place to open our new company.” “Yes, it is,” Genevieve replied. “I have all the funds we need to start our own fashion business. I can't wait to throw Cynthia and Ivy under the bus,” Jill said as Frida entered. “That's going to have to wait. All of this will have to wait,” Frida said. “Frida, what happened? You know how much this company has already cost me!” Jill yelled. “I'm sorry. I will repay you. My sister Victoria has cancer; I need to focus on her,” Frida said, trying not to cry. “I'm sorry,” Genevieve said. “Yes, of course, we are,” Jill agreed. “Thanks. I still want to open my own fashion business with you. I never got the respect from my parents that Cynthia did. I need this company to prove myself, but I need to be there for my sister too.” “Of course you do. We understand,” Genevieve said. “Thanks. I want everyone to think I'm not opening my own fashion company, then shock them—especially my sister Cynthia. She's the most arrogant woman ever,” Frida added. “I like that—act like everything is fine, then shock them,” Jill said.
