Glamor and Luxury ch 12

 Glamor and Luxury ch 12”

At Valley Hospital, Vera was in the hallway, worried about her family and her sick niece when her older sister Stella and Nora stopped by. “Vera, what is going on? Why did you want us to meet you here?” Stella asked. “It's Victoria. Ivy, we're going to need all our strength; the Winthrop family must come together,” Vera explained. “What is it? You’re scaring me,” Nora said as Ivy approached. “I haven't told them yet,” Vera admitted. “It's Victoria. She's sick. My baby has cancer,” Ivy said. “No, we will get Victoria the best care possible,” Stella assured her. “Yes, we will. We're Winthrop. There’s nothing we can't do. We’ll get Victoria the best care,” Nora agreed. “Yes, we will. I need to find Cynthia and Frida—they've been fighting. I need them to get along just this once,” Ivy added as Matthew and Callie arrived. “Callie, my sweet granddaughter, I'm here for you,” Ivy said, hugging her. “Thanks, Glam. I know my mother will get through this. I need to see her.” “Yes, you do; she’s getting chemotherapy now,” Ivy replied. “I’ll take her,” Matthew said as they left. “Ivy,” Nora said. “It's all a flashback to me when Richard was sick,” Ivy responded. “It's not the same,” Vera said.

Cynthia was in the hallway trying to hold it together, opening her purse to pull out her cell phone. She thought about calling Chanel when Vivienne approached. “Mother, I'm counting on calling your sister.” “Do it. We need each other right now,” Vivienne encouraged.

At Valley Hospital, Victoria was sitting in the infusion room getting fluids when Ivy sat down. "Your cancer isn't going to be like your father's. He was older when he was sick and not as healthy, but you are, and you will get through this," Ivy said. "Thanks, Mother," Victoria replied as the doctor came in. "Victoria, I need you to wait a while, and we will check your numbers to see if you can get chemotherapy today." "Alright, I will stay here," Victoria said. “How advanced is this cancer? Can my daughter beat it?" Ivy asked. "Yes, she can. It's a small tumor in the breast," the doctor said. "Great. My daughters are my everything. I hope your sisters are getting along." "Me too."

Cynthia and Frida were in the hallway talking. “Why don't we try to get along right now for Victoria?" Cynthia asked. “I agree. I can't lose her," Frida replied. "Me too. Frida, I do love you. I don't understand why you're jealous of me and my marriage. It's not that perfect. You have Alistair; he loves you." "Yes, he does, but it's not the same," Frida said. “Phillip isn't that perfect man you think he is."

At Victoria/Mathew—Callie was at home looking at all her new dresses and went to put them away when Matthew knocked on the door. He hated that he had to tell his daughter this news. "Callie, we need to talk. It’s your mother." “What about? You look serious." "I just found out your mother has cancer." "No!" Callie yelled. “She’s at the hospital, getting ready for chemotherapy." "I can't believe this is happening while I was out shopping!" Callie yelled. “You didn't know! Neither did I!" Matthew replied.

At Valley Hospital - The Infusion Room - Victoria was sitting in the room getting an IV infusion when her mother and sisters came in. “Victoria, why didn't you tell us what’s going on? How advanced is cancer? How much chemotherapy do you need?” Ivy asked. “I didn't tell you because of what happened to Daddy when he had cancer, and besides, I need time to deal with it,” Victoria replied. “Well, you’re not alone. I'm here to help you,” Ivy said. “Yes, we are here for you. Matthew went to tell Callie,” Frida added. “Are you both fighting? I don't need you fighting each other. I need both my sisters and your strength,” Victoria said. “You will have it. We will find the best doctor for you,” Cynthia said. She didn't like dealing with her emotions or seeing someone sick. “Do you need a blanket? Or some water?” Cynthia asked. “Sure,” Victoria responded. She understood why her sister needed a break. Cynthia left.

Cynthia went into the hallway and leaned on the wall, crying, as Frida entered and saw her older sister crying. “Cynthia, we can't lose Victoria. I'm still upset with you, but I can't lose Victoria.”

What about me? Would you be that upset if it was me? Frida ask

At Valley Hospital, Vera was waiting in the hospital corridor for her family. Ivy arrived behind her with her daughters. Ivy didn't show it much, but she loved her daughters. Vera looked at her older sister, who sometimes disagreed with her about how she raised her daughters. "Vera, where is Victoria?" Ivy yelled. “Ivy, calm down. You need to be strong for your daughter," Vera said. "You know what my daughter is going through! Is it serious? Why did you keep this from me? I guess you have something in common with my younger daughter too!" Ivy yelled. “What are you talking about? Why do you always make it about yourself?" Vera yelled. “Aunt Vera, what is going on?" Frida asked.

In the infusion room, Victoria was sitting in the chair getting fluids, with Matthew sitting beside her. "Matthew, I love you. We have a great marriage." "Yes, we do." "I wish I could have had more children." “Callie is all we need." "Yes, she's a great daughter." “Yes, she is." “My sisters and mother should be here. Go check." "Alright," Matthew said, then went into the hallway and saw his mother-in-law and sisters-in-law.

"Matthew, what is going on?" Ivy yelled.

"It's cancer. Victoria has it." No! Ivy yelled.

"Is she with a doctor now?" Cynthia asked.

"Victoria was supposed to start chemotherapy today, but she needs fluids first."

"Why didn't you tell us?" Ivy asked. She didn't like Matthew or any of her children's husbands; she thought they could do better.

"I didn't know until now. You can go see Victoria, but don't stress her out." "Alright," she replied.

At Lavish Chateau - Cyntia, Frida, and Ivy were still in the office fighting about fashion. "I will sue you for breach of contract! Your little company won't make it! You know nothing about this industry like I do! The hard work I’ve put in!" Cynthia yelled. “I have done the legal work for this! My husband is a lawyer!" Frida yelled.

At Valley Hospital - Victoria, Matthew, and Vera were in the hallway. "I will call everybody soon," Victoria said as the doctor approached. "Victoria, we can't do chemotherapy today. You need fluids; your numbers are low," the doctor told her. "Victoria, it’s time to tell the family," Vera said. “You're right, it's time," Victoria replied, picking up her phone.

At Lavish Chateau - Cyntia, Frida, and Ivy continued fighting when they both received a text from Victoria asking them to come to the hospital. "Your sister is at the hospital, and she wants us to come see her. What is going on with Victoria?" Ivy asked. “I don't know," Frida replied. “Me either. Let's go,. “This fight isn't over," Cynthia said. “Can we just put this on hold for now?" Ivy asked.

At Valley Hospital, Vera was waiting for Victoria to arrive. She knew the secret Victoria was carrying—the only one she confided in. Vera didn't have children of her own; she wasn't blessed with any, but she adored her nieces. Victoria entered the hospital and went to her aunt. “Sorry I'm late, Cynthia and Frida are fighting.” “What else is new? You need to tell your sister and your mother what's going on,” Vera said. “What about her husband? Matthew asked as he came over.” “Matthew, why are you here?” Victoria asked. “I had a board meeting.” “Matthew said he was on the board because his mother, who passed away, had supported the hospital's funding for years until she died.” “Why don't you both go somewhere and talk privately,” Vera suggested. “It's okay, I can say it right here,” Victoria said through tears. “No! Why didn't you tell me!” Matthew exclaimed. “Because I need time to deal with it myself.” “When do you start treatment?” Matthew asked. “Today, that's why I'm here,” Victoria replied, as a lab tech approached. “Mrs. Barrington, we need to draw your blood,” the tech said. “Alright,” Victoria responded and left. Matthew was in shock about this and took it all in. “Matthew, I know you're sad and scared about this.” “Yes, I am.” “Victoria will be okay. We have to think positive,” Vera said as Victoria rejoined them. “I can't have chemotherapy until the blood test comes back,” Victoria added. “We will wait then. We should call Callie.” “Yes, I guess so. I'm sorry I kept it from you.” “You don't have to do this alone. You have me, our daughter, and your sisters,” Matthew reassured her.

At Lavish Chateau, Cynthia and Frida were fighting about business. "Frida, why did you try to steal the family business? You have always been jealous of your sister! You can't run a fashion company on your own!" Ivy yelled. “Thank you for believing in me, Mother! I do appreciate it! I will have a successful business! I have a lot of people supporting me behind the scenes. You will see, Cynthia, I will destroy you!" Frida yelled. “Your little company will never be as successful as mine! Creation will always be on top!" Cynthia shouted. Victoria, who was not feeling well, was carrying a secret. "Can't you just have your own line in the Creation company?" Victoria asked. “I think that's a great idea," Ivy said. “I don't think so," Frida yelled. “Frida, do you have the funds  to open this company?" Ivy asked. "Yes," Frida replied. "You're just doing this because I married Phillip! If you want him, you can have him!" Cynthia shouted. “Thanks a lot!" Phillip yelled. “If it's between my company and my husband, it's always my company. Ask Channell," Cynthia said. “Cynthia, you can't keep pushing your family away. I need to go; you both are too stubborn. Frida, you used to adore Cynthia; you both were close," Victoria said before leaving.

At Lavish Chateau, Cynthia was yelling at Frida because she just found out that Frida  was trying to steal some designers to start her own fashion company. Cynthia was angrily accusing her of being jealous of her lifestyle. As Vivienne passed by, she was upset with her mother for yelling at her aunt. She and Cynthia often disagree on many things, like how Cynthia treats people she claims to love.

"Mother, why are you yelling?" Vivienne asked.

"I just found out your aunt Frida  has been stealing my designs to open her own company! She’s always been jealous! I don't need you in my life!" Cynthia yelled.

"Mother, you don't mean that! You don't talk to Channell, who moved to Paris to follow her dreams! You can't keep pushing people away!" Vivienne yelled as Ivy entered the room.

"What is going on? Why are you making a public scene?" Ivy asked.

"It’s Frida. She’s always been jealous of me!" Cynthia exclaimed.

"Why don't you all go into my office and talk?" Phillip suggested.

"Yes," Ivy agreed.

“Frida , I have to go. I can cancel my meeting," Alistair said.

"No, it's okay. I can handle my sister," Frida replied. Alistair kissed his wife on the cheek and left.

At Creation’s, Cynthia was working on her next design when her cell phone rang. It was one of her friends in the fashion industry. “Monica, it's so good to hear from you. What about my sister?” Cynthia asked.

At Lavish Chateau,Frida and Victoria were talking. , I know I told you I would keep quiet about your secret, but soon it's going to get back to Cynthia.” “Why are you protecting Cynthia? She got all of Daddy’s love, and Mother—you know, Mother only put me in the business because Daddy made her. Cynthia will always be the favorite.” “Is this really about Mother and Daddy, or about Phillip? You still want him?” Victoria ask  as Cynthia came by. “You bitch!” Cynthia yelled as Phillip and Alistair came over. “Cynthia, you are making sense.” “I know! I just found out that Frida stole some of my designs to give to my rival! How did you think you could get away with this? You will not win!” Cynthia yelled as Frida  got up from her chair. “I want my own company. I never really belonged there! Mother only let me work there because of Daddy.” “I'm the one with the talent! You will not win with your own design! You are not welcome in my husband's hotel,” Cynthia said. “Cynthia, that's my decision, not yours!” Phillip yelled. “So you’re not on my side for this? Do you still love her?” Cynthia  yelled as Vivienne came in. “What is going on?” Vivienne asked.

At Lavish Chateau, Phillip was working at the hotel. He was the owner and was proud of it, as Frida and Alistair came by. "Phillip, it's good to see you." "You too." "Is Cynthia here?" "No, she's working. You know your sister." "Yes, I do," Frida said as they sat down. "We should order soon," Alistair said. “Alistair, how is business?" "Good. I may need you to look over some paperwork. I'm working on a merger with another hotel." "That's wonderful." "Yes, I will be happy to help. Thanks," Phillip said and left.

"So, Frida , are you going to tell me the secret you're keeping? I know it's about your sister and the fashion company." "Yes, it is. It’s also going to break my sister’s heart." “Is that what you wanted?" "No, I just want the same respect that my sister gets. She got everything—my father's love and." “The man you love. You just settle for me." "Alistair, I do love you, but it's not the life I wanted for myself, even though I do love our children." “I know you do." "You have to admit this isn't the life you wanted either."

Victoria came in, looked at her sister, and tried to figure out what to do about Frida's secret as she went by her. "Frida , Alistair, do you mind if I talk to my sister?" "No, go ahead. I need to make a phone call," Alistair said as he left. "We need to talk. I know what you are up to," Victoria said.

Frida and Alistair - Frida was thinking about her plan to take over the family company. She wanted to earn her mother's respect, something she had never received, unlike Cynthia, who got everything—including the man she loved. Frida was supposed to be married to Phillip, not Alistair, whom she loved, but her love for Phillip was greater. Alistair entered the room knowing Frida wasn't happy, but he tried to cheer her up. “Frida, do you want to go to breakfast? I have a few hours before my meeting,” said Alistair, who was a very successful lawyer. “Sure, why not,” Frida replied, and they left.

Victoria was at her house, thinking about her sisters. She was the oldest of the group and hated how jealous they both were of each other. It was hard for her to keep the peace between them. She was also thinking about a secret she was keeping and leaving.

At Lavish Chateau - Phillip was working at the hotel he loved. It was his father's legacy, and he wanted it to be as successful as his father left it. When Frida and Alistair came in, Frida looked at Phillip because she still loved him, and Alistair saw it. He knew how his wife felt—still about her brother-in-law.

At Cynthia and Philip's house — Cynthia was at home, sitting at her desk with a coffee cup beside her, sketching a new design for her fashion line on paper. Cynthia's mother was a successful fashion designer, and Cynthia now served as the CEO of the company she loved, managing it and eager for her daughter Vivienne to take over with her. Philip entered the room.

"Cynthia," Philip said. "What are you working on?"

"I'm working on the spring line. I had an idea for it. I think it's going to be a hit."

"Your designs usually are."

"Yes. I have a meeting, I should go," Philip said, mentioning he had a hotel empire in town.

"Alright, see you later," Cynthia replied, kissing her husband. Philip left as Vivienne came in.

"Vivienne, I'm glad you're here. Are your designs finished for the spring collection?"

"Not yet."

"I hope you finish them soon."

"I will," Vivienne said, though she didn't want to tell her mother that she didn't want to be in the fashion industry.
