Glamor and Luxury, Part 2, Chapter 29
At Glamor, Monica was on the phone with a woman who had just posted an interview about her new fall line in a magazine. She wasn't happy with the interview. “I want a retraction on this interview! You took the interview and my fall line out of context; if you don't, I will sue you! I can destroy you!” Monica yelled as she hung up the phone. Simone came in. “Monica, what was that?” Simone asked. “I just did an interview for Claire Twain, and she destroyed me in the interview! Everything I said about my friendship and rivalry with Cynthia is out of context. I need to call Cynthia,” Monica said. “Is it that bad? This isn't going to destroy our company that we've worked so hard on, you know that,” Simone said as Monica handed her the magazine. “Read it,” Monica said.
At Jill’s—Jill had just been crying about Phillip ending the affair and decided it wasn't worth it anymore. She dried her tears as her cellphone rang. It was an unknown number. “Hello? Who is this?” Jill asked. “Claire Twain! Yes, I know who you are. I'm listening,” Jill said.
At Cynthia and Phillip’s—Cynthia was at home in the bedroom she shared with Phillip, whom she cared for but didn't love. As she picked up his dirty pants from the chair, an earring fell out of the pocket. It wasn't hers, and it wasn't the first time a mistress had left a piece of evidence for her to find. Phillip came in. “You may want to give this back to your mistress,” Cynthia said as she handed it to Phillip. “I came here to tell you everything. It's Jill,” Phillip said as Cynthia's heart broke.”
